French delegation visits North-East Syria

A delegation from France visited North-East Syria to convey the support of the French President to the peoples and the autonomous administration and to confirm that cooperation between France and North-East Syria continues.

A delegation assigned by the French President Emmanuel Macron visited the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

The delegation included the former Minister of National Education, Michel Blanquer, and the French writer and researcher Patrice Franceschi, specializing in regional affairs, accompanied by the representative of the Autonomous Administration in France, Xalid Isa.

The delegation was received at the Foreign Relations Department of the AANES, by the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department, Samar Al-Abdullah, and the vice co-chairs, Fanar Al-Kaait and Rubel Bahho.

According to the AANES statement on the visit, Samar Al-Abdullah stated that the Turkish attacks on the autonomous administration areas harm the war against ISIS, and there is information that ISIS is taking advantage of the latest attacks to organize its ranks and launch attacks on AANES areas.

Abdullah said that the Turkish attacks hindered the work of humanitarian organizations and caused them to leave the area, which caused harm to the refugees in the camps, and affected the ability of the autonomous administration to provide services and livelihoods to refugees.

For his part, Michel Blanquer said that their visit to the regions of North-East Syria aims to get acquainted with the institutions of the Autonomous Administration, convey the support of the French President to the peoples and administration of North-East Syria, and to confirm that cooperation between France and North-East Syria continues.

Blanquet added that he is here to tour the regions of northern and eastern Syria to see the damage caused to facilities after the recent attack, and that he will return to France to discuss how to provide assistance more effectively.

The French delegation, accompanied by representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Surya, visited the Şehit Delîl Saroxan Cemetery of Martyrs in the city of Qamishlo.
