The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria continues to support those who left Lebanon and returned to the region since the beginning of the war in Lebanon. The Autonomous Administration set up a Crisis Desk to provide shelter and basic living materials to those returning to the region.

According to the latest data from the Crisis Desk, approximately 20 thousand people have arrived in the North-East Syria region from Lebanon.

The Autonomous Administration, through its Social Affairs and Labour Board, provides the necessary support to those coming from Lebanon.

Speaking to ANHA, Maryam Îbrahîm, Co-Chair of the Social Affairs and Labour Board of the Autonomous Administration, said: “The committees established within the Board welcome those coming from Lebanon in all cantons and settle them in the camps. The Autonomous Administration meets basic needs such as food, fuel and treatment. The committees also take a close interest in the families arriving in the region. Despite the limited facilities and restrictions, the Autonomous Administration took the necessary initiatives and met the basic needs of the arrivals.”

Maryam Îbrahîm continued: “The Autonomous Administration meets the needs of the returnees with its limited resources. We will try to meet all their needs as much as we can. I criticise the international organisations for not providing the necessary support to the returnees. All the border gates in the region, especially Til Kocher border gate, are closed. This gate is a door through which the region breathes.  The UN should open this gate to overcome all difficulties.”
