The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria, Adem Abdülmewla, expressed concern over the violence in the Damascus countryside and condemned the killing of civilians.
Ebdülmewla said that the spread of violence in the Sweida province threatens the safety and peace of civilians, worsens the humanitarian situation and jeopardizes hard-won gains, and that under no circumstances should humanitarian aid and health workers be targeted, as this is against international and humanitarian law.
Ebdülmewla called on all parties to exercise restraint and take measures to protect civilians and workers working in the affected areas.
