The SDF offensive on Hajin, the last stronghold of ISIS in Syria, continues with fierce fighting. Within the last 24 hours, 29 jihadists were killed according to SDF data.

The Press Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has released a report on the past 24 hours of the offensive against ISIS terror in Northeast Syria. Accordingly, 29 jihadists were killed in Al-Sousse amid ongoing fierce fighting. The goal of the offensive launched on 10 September is the liberation of Hajin on the border with Iraq, the last stronghold of the so-called Islamic State in Syria.

The SDF Press Center’s statement on the ongoing battle is as follows:

Al-Bagouz Front

Fighting erupted yesterday evening between our forces and ISIS terrorists who used heavy weaponry to stop the advance of our forces. In order to avert the location of their air positions by the international coalition, the jihadists burned plastic tires, which led to heavy smoke development in the region. The coalition aircraft bombed several ISIS positions, killing a number of jihadists and destroying a command center.

Furthermore, the terrorists attempted to attack SDF fighters’ positions with four bomb-laden cars and used reconnaissance drones.

The driver of one of the vehicles was killed and the vehicle and the terrorist’s body was confiscated. The other three vehicles were destroyed by the SDF using heavy artillery. As a result, the ISIS groups were forced to withdraw from the combat area. SDF fighters were able to confiscate weapons and other military materials.

Despite the extensive mining of the area, the SDF units continued to advance.

Al-Sousse

Half of the town of Al-Sousse has been cleared of ISIS terrorists who launched an artillery attack on a building under the control of SDF fighters. The building collapsed as a result, which left some SDF fighters injured.

The SDF units advanced from three sides and secured further sections. While the village of Hawî al-Sousse was liberated, intense battles in the town have been going on for two days.

Hajin Front

During the clashes at this front, the terrorists launched an attack with heavy weaponry, artillery and mortar fire from a distance. The attack was rendered futile and did not cause any harm on SDF fighters. In order to take action against the starting point of these attacks, the movements of the ISIS units were observed and hit.
