Women politicians talk of the need for dialogue in Syria

Women politicians reiterated that a solution to the war in Syria must be reached within Syria itself.

Women politicians in Aleppo spoke with Hawar News Agency (ANHA) about the importance of internal dialogue for a solution to the Syrian crisis.

Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) member of the organisation office in Aleppo, Fatma Al-Hisêno underlined the attempts made to implement a policy of permanent war, destruction and demographic change in the Syrian territory and added: “A political solution agreed upon by all sections of the Syrian peoples must be achieved and security in the region restored. Dialogue inside Syria should take place in the near time and all parties should sit around the table, where there would be no place for discrimination on religion, sect, class or ethnicity basis.

Stating that the talks should take place in the Syrian territory, Fatma Al-Hisêno continued: "We don’t want Geneva nor Astana. Because no progress has been made in these talks, the same happened 7 years ago. Instead of creating a solution for the Syrian people, these kind of talks in fact deepened the crisis”.

The MSD executive continued: “We want to see Syrian people sit around the same table. Be it in Raqqa, Derik, Damascus, or wherever. The place is not important, what is important is to find a solution to the crisis in Syria. We do not want terrorist groups working for the interests of foreign powers, thus extending the life of the Syrian crisis and disintegrating the country. And we don’t want them to take part in talks about our future”.

The crisis, added the MSD executive, “has escalated so much because of these groups. Syrians and nationals should take place at the negotiating table, because the main purpose of negotiations is to end the crisis”.

'Syrian dialogue should take place without external intervention'

Behiye Ibrahim, from the organisation office of the Syrian Future Party, said that Syria finds itself in a stalemate because of massacres and conflicts.

“Talks in Syria - she said - must urgently begin because it is our people who are suffering from the Syrian crisis”.

Behiye Ibrahim added: "In order to stop the persecution and massacres of the people, a settlement must be achieved on the basis of defence of human rights and respect for humanity”.

Ibrahim said that dialogue should take place without any external intervention. There should be no place, she added, for those parties wishing to disrupt the unity of Syria.
