Women Defend Rojava to take to the streets in Berlin on Öcalan's birthday

The Berlin Committee of Women Defend Rojava calls for an internationalist demonstration "United in Resistance - Together against War and Fascism" on 4 April, Öcalan's birthday, in the federal capital.

4 April is not an ordinary day, as the philosopher and thought leader Abdullah Öcalan was born on this day in 1949. We take this day as an opportunity to take to the streets for Abdullah Öcalan, the defense of the women's revolution and against the attacks of the capitalist system. But above all, to unite us in our diversity.

On this day we will plant a tree of resistance and life, because this day is considered the hope of freedom.

Why is Öcalan's freedom important to us women?

In Germany in particular, we encounter resistance when women, inter and trans people refer to the thought leader of the Kurdish freedom movement. Resistance that arises from a Eurocentric perspective and testifies to a mere reduction to a biological gender. We have set ourselves the goal of breaking this mentality and bringing the importance of Abdullah Öcalan into society.

We have to understand that the women's revolution would not exist without Abdullah Öcalan. He laid the foundations for a paradigm based on women's liberation, grassroots democracy and an ecological society. Solidarity with Rojava only works with solidarity with Öcalan and the PKK. Above all, it must be understood that Öcalan is a philosopher and revolutionary of our time who must be treated with respect.”
