Turkish police harass HDP Güçlükonak co-chair Aktuğ

The Turkish police used violence and insulted HDP Güçlükonak district co-chair Ahmet Aktuğ, at a check-point.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak's Güçlükonak district co-chair Ahmet Aktuğ and some administrators visited the citizens in the villages of the district on Monday.

On the way back from the visit, the police checked the identity of the members of the delegation, which was stopped at the police check- point on the Kurtik hill at the entrance of the district, and shouted to HDP district co-chair Ahmet Altuğ, "Don't look around". As he reacted to this, Aktuğ was taken out of the vehicle by 3 policemen and violence was used. The police cursed and insulted Aktuğ at the same time.

Aktuğ said that he was hit harder when the people next to him said he was the "HDP district president". He said he would file a criminal complaint against the police officers who used violence against him and added that the police told him "Go and complain to whoever you want".

The police, who also attacked the party members who wanted to take pictures during the incident, seized the phones of those who took the video and deleted the images.
