Sisic: “Stop ethnic cleansing in Afrin”

Bosnian Tajma Sisic, whose parents survived the genocide in Srebrenitsa in 1995 and sought refuge in Sweden, called on the Swedish government to stop the ethnic cleansing against Kurds in Afrin.

In an article titled “Now Sweden should take action for Afrin and the Kurds” published in the Sydöstran newspaper, Sisic said the Turkish state bombing against Afrin continues still and that the forces who cleared several regions in Syria of ISIS are being targeted. Sisic also protested Turkey not complying with the United Nations Security Council’s ceasefire resolution.

Sisic said international treaties haven’t been enough to stop the Turkish state: “As I write this article, the invasion continues against international law. It is time for Sweden to pressure the European Union and the United Nations. Turkey’s military attacks must be stopped now,” said Sisic and called on the Swedish government to take action.

Sisic said massacres cost many lives and history has taught us that we shouldn’t repeat this: “But still, ethnic cleansing continues. None of us is free until all of us are free. So, the disgusting ethnic cleansing in Afrin must be stopped immediately,” said Sisic and called on the outside world to take a stand against the Turkish state.
