Several DEM Party members detained in Amed and Istanbul

Turkish police conducted house raids in Amed and Istanbul in the morning hours, targeting DEM Party executives and Youth Assembly members and detained nearly 20 people.

In İstanbul, DEM Party Gaziosmanpaşa District Organisation Executive Doğu Yılmaz and party member Süleyman Turgut were detained and taken to the Provincial Security Directorate.

In Amed (Diyarbakır), many young people, including DEM Party Youth Assembly members, were taken into custody. The reasons for the detentions were not disclosed.

An investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was cited as the reason for the house raids.

While the Turkish police looted the belongings in the houses, it is reported that the number of detentions may increase.

Detainees were subjected to arbitrary and systematic restrictions on lawyers and access to files.
