Raqqa operation: 34 gang members killed, four vehicles destroyed

In clashes which spread across 7 neighbourhoods of Raqqa 34 ISIS members have been killed, and 4 vehicles have been destroyed. International Coalition aircraft conducted bombings on many gang positions.

Heavy clashes continue between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and ISIS gangs in the neighbourhoods Hisham Abd Al-Malik, Old Raqqa, al-Diriyah and al-Barid neighborhoods.

SDF fighters advanced last night into Hisham Abd Al-Malik neighbourhood and breached the defense line of the the gangs. 22 gang members have been killed in these clashes.

International Coalition aircrafts also conducted bombings on many ISIS positions, but it could not be verified how many gang members were killed in the airstrikes.

In intense clashes in Old Raqqa and Rawda neighbourhoods 6 gang members were killed, while a military vehicle and one ammunition car were destroyed by SDF fighters.

During clashes in the al-Diriyah and al-Barid neighborhoods west of the city, 3 ISIS members have been killed, a sniper included.

SDF fighters detected a bomb laden vehicle in al-Barid neighbourhood and destroyed it before it could reach its target. A military vehicle was also destroyed in the neighbourhood.

SDF special units conducted mine sweeping operations in the liberated Qadisiyah and al-Diriyah neighbourhoods and defused many mines which the ISIS gangs planted in various locations.

In the meantime, SDF special units have freed 180 civilians who were held hostage by ISIS gangs amid fierce clashes in Tayar neighbourhood of Raqqa.

600 civilians who tried to flee ISIS in Tayar neighbourhood to reach Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions, have been held hostage by the gangs. SDF special units conducted an operation and freed 180 civilians and brought them safely to the Qadisiyah and Sabahiyah neighbourhoods.

Intense clashes between SDF fighters and ISIS gangs continue in these neighbourhoods.
