Pontiacs donate blood for Kobane

“We don’t want our blood back, we want to give life with it” say Pontiac Greek women on the centennial of the Pontiac Massacre as they donate blood in solidarity with the Kobane Medical Center.

Pontiac associations in 12 cities in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany organized a blood drive for the Kobane Medical Center on March 8. Eleni S. gave a speech in the name of Pontiac Greek women and said, “We don’t want our blood back, we want to give life with it. We want to show our solidarity with the Kobane Medical Center in Northern Syria with this blood drive.”

“Usually on March 8 we would donate blood to the Rotekreuz (Germany’s Red Cross). This year we are donating blood again, but we will also donate the revenue from the blood donation to the Kobane Medical Center because there is a revolution that is developing under women’s lead there. We lost blood for years, now there is blood spilling in Rojava. We want to offer our support.”

Donor and former European representative of the Pontiac Association Boursanihis Giannis said: “Today I am here, and I don’t have the words to speak. We lost so much blood. So, it is an honor to donate blood for the Kobane Medical Center today.”

Pontiac Greek Margeritte said: “We Pontiac women lost so much blood over the years. Today, we want to give new life with our blood.”

Pervin Akyildiz said: “I feel honored to be part of the Pontiac Greek Association’s organization on March 8. As a Kurdish woman in Europe, it is important for me to give life to our comrades who resist in Rojava.”

Kamile Anma said they organized the drive to give life and added: “I wish a beautiful and free life where life grows and women don’t die.”
