Police in Amed take six people into custody

Six people were taken into custody in Amed for joining the Newroz celebrations.

Six people were taken into custody during house raids in the borough of Çınar and Kocaköy in Amed early this morning. According to the information received the six people were detained for attending the Newroz celebrations in the city.

Ayşegül Söğüt, Yasin Çetin, Sıddık Polat, Vedat Kızıl were taken into custody in the village of Çaytepe, Kocaköy, and Talat Özdemir and Metin Vural in Çınar. It was reported that the six were taken to Diyarbakır Police Headquarters.

Nearly 100 people were detained on 21 March, Newroz day. While 87 of those detained have been released, 13 people are still in custody.
