Police attack demonstrators in front of courthouse, detaining many in Istanbul

Police attacked members of People's Houses (Halkevleri) and Student Collectives waiting in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse to show solidarity with the students who were brought to the prosecutor's office. Many were detained.

5 students, who were detained for writing on walls in Fatih, Istanbul in solidarity with the Boğaziçi University resistance, were brought to the prosecutor's office today. Police attacked members of People's Houses and Student Collectives that gathered in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse to support the students.

Acting in a state of emergency in front of and around the courthouse, police blocked the demonstrators who were waiting for a press release. Surrounding the group that reacted to this arbitrary practice, the police detained many people using violence.

It is reported that among those detained are executive members of People's Houses (Halkevleri).
