New statement from Elysée after receiving the Rojava committee

The Elysée Palace statement said they don’t foresee a new military operation in northern Syria outside of the international coalition against ISIS.

The French Presidency in the Elysée Palace issued a new statement after receiving a committee from Rojava and Northern Syria.

The Elysée Palace statement said they don’t foresee a new military operation in northern Syria outside of the international coalition against ISIS.

The statement said, “France doesn’t foresee a new military operation in the field in Northern Syria outside of the international coalition against ISIS.”

The Elysée Palace didn’t deny the content of the meetings with the Rojava-Northern Syria committee, and this statement has caused comments that there may be new efforts as part of the international coalition.

“JOINT FIGHT WITH THE SDF SHOULD CONTINUE”

France is part of the international coalition formed in the lead of the US against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. These efforts are carried out together with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Elysée palace statement said, “The joint fight with the SDF should continue,” and expressed concerns for the risk of an ISIS resurgence.

TURKEY’S “EXPECTED” REACTION

A 8 person committee from Rojava and Northern Syria had been received by French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday.

Macron had issued a statement after this meeting and asked for dialogue between the SDF and Turkey with help from France and the international public. Macron had also stressed that support for the SDF will continue, while the Turkish government had rejected the calls for a dialogue.

According to the AFP, the Elysée Palace called Turkey’s reaction, “an expected reaction”.
