MP Dindar: Imrali prison should be closed

DEM Party Van MP Mahmut Dindar called on the government to lift the isolation of Öcalan and to hear the voices of the mothers on Justice Vigil and demanded the closure of İmralı.

DEM Party Van MP Mahmut Dindar stated that even the government's compliance with the law would end the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and said, "As long as the isolation is not broken, worse situations will emerge."

Speaking to ANF, Dindar said, "People are being massacred in Kurdistan, soldiers are losing their lives and deaths are occurring non-stop. This has to stop. Therefore, the isolation of Mr Abdullah Öcalan must be broken. Everyone knows that the key to peace is in İmralı."

Dindar noted that for some reason, the isolation of Öcalan has been aggravated and no positive step has been taken and said, "Vigils for justice Vigil have been started in order to break this isolation. We need to listen to the voices of our precious mothers whose children have been in prison for years. We see that the government is silent and ignores this. Why don't they want peace, why do they prevent this isolation from being broken, why don't they open the doors of prisons? The economic, political and social situation is obvious."

Expressing his solidarity with the mothers, Dindar continued: "We have been living in these lands for thousands of years. They do not accept our identity, our existence. We want to live equally. If the isolation is broken, war can be prevented. We want talks with Mr Öcalan to start and peace to come. Look at the economic situation, how will people make a living? 600 billion dollars have been spent on war in 40 years. Prisoners who put their bodies to death in prisons want peace. All political parties should think about it. Turkey should apply its own laws and lift the isolation. According to which law do you prevent family visits? As long as isolation is not broken, worse situations will emerge. People who vote for the AKP should also see this dirty and hypocritical politics. We know that peace can only be achieved with Mr Abdullah Öcalan and that is why İmralı should be closed. Let Mr Öcalan express his views and ideas freely."
