Kurds in London celebrate Newroz

Hundreds of people gathered in London to celebrate Newroz and underlined that the resistance against AKP-MHP fascism will achieve victory.

Newroz was celebrated in Edmonton with an event promoted by the People's United Revolutionary Movement (HBDH), the Kurdish People's Assembly and the Democratic Forces Union in London.

Women joined the celebration in their national clothes. Activists chanted slogans demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, protesting the attacks targeting the HDP, the withdrawal of the Turkish government from the Istanbul Convention.

In his speech, Heval Yusuf from the HBDH said that the resistance and struggle developed with the spirit of Newroz will definitely establish the equal free life of the peoples.

Kurdish People's Assembly co-chair Ercan Akbal emphasized that the Kurdish people will never kneel and added that the Kurds are standing up for the freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan all over the world. Stating that the resistance against fascism will succeed, Akbal said: “This fascist order will be destroyed. We have shown the resistance of the people today that we will definitely win.”
