The international conspiracy that targeted Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 15, 1999 has been condemned in a demonstration in Milan, Italy.Kurds and Italians gathered at Porta Venezia area in Milan and staged a march to the Cairoli Square in protest at the conspiracy with the motto “Freedom for Öcalan”. Representatives of more than 150 institutions participated in the demonstration.
During the rally at Cairoli Square, HDP deputies Dilek Öcalan and Faysal Sarıyıldız and Mahmut Şakar made speeches which called attention to the ongoing aggravated isolation and unlawfulness in İmralı Island Prison where Öcalan is held, and called on all revolutionary and democratic institutions to act for the freedom of the Kurdish leader.
KCK Executive Council Member Mustafa Karasu also sent a video message to the demonstration as protestors chanted "Viva Öcalan” and “Viva Kürdistan".
