Kurdish University to be established in Germany issues statement

The European Kurdish Language Platform has issued a public statement to clarify misinformation circulating on social media regarding the multilingual Kurdish University currently being established in Germany.

The European Kurdish Language Platform (PZK-E) issued a statement to clarify misinformation circulating on social media regarding the multilingual Kurdish University currently being established in Germany.

The platform announced that the university had been officially founded, with Kurdish, German, and English designated as the languages of instruction. The goal is to admit its first students at the beginning of the 2026 academic year.

According to Lezgin Botan, spokesperson for the PZK-E, the university is being established in the city of Dresden and will offer education in fields such as Kurdish Language, Culture, and History, as well as literature, history, sociology, arts and culture, and technology. The university will be known by the abbreviation IKHS.

The university’s rector is Prof. Christoph Scholz, and the institution currently has a team of 10 professors and an 11-member board of trustees. It was noted that dozens of applications have already been submitted by academics interested in joining the faculty.

The platform emphasized that all official updates and information about the university should be followed only via ikhs.de, warning the public not to trust speculative content on social media.

The university is expected to hold its official opening with a reception in 2026. A donation campaign will also be launched soon, and a comprehensive meeting with the academic staff is scheduled for September.
