The Kurdistan People's Congress, KONGRA-GEL Co-Presidency Council released a message on occasion of March 21, Newroz Day and wished a happy Newroz to “leader Abdullah Öcalan, all prisoners of freedom, the peoples of Kurdistan and the Middle East and all the comrades defending their people and country on various fronts.”

Remarking that the peoples of Kurdistan are welcoming Newroz this year “with the joy of the Gare victory”, KONGRA-GEL said, “The Turkish state is the main enemy of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan. Their battle concept relying on high technology was frustrated by the guerrilla and they suffered heavy blows in Heftanin and Gare.”

The statement continued;

“Having failed to achieve results through its technology-based war concept against the HPG, the fascist AKP-MHP government is now threatening the peoples of Kurdistan and the Freedom Movement by means of news about the life of Leader Apo (Öcalan).

For this very reason, Newroz should be an occasion for the peoples of Kurdistan to respond to the threats of Turkish state fascism. Leader Apo calls the free Kurd and peoples of Kurdistan ‘people of Newroz’. Therefore, the peoples of Kurdistan should ensure stronger participation than ever in Newroz celebrations, manifest their commitment and love for Leader Apo and thus deliver their message to all sides.  Participation in Newroz celebrations in this period is of particular importance.

Leader Apo is the red line of our people and movement; to us he is a matter of existence and annihilation. There should be strong public reaction to ensure that family members and lawyers meet Leader Apo and the gates to Imralı are opened. For this reason, Newroz celebrations are a great opportunity for our people and friends.

Newroz celebrations will also contribute to expanding the ‘Time for Freedom’ campaign at home and abroad. As the peoples of Kurdistan, we owe to Leader Apo. Isolation and torture are executed on the peoples of Kurdistan in the person of Leader Apo. With the ‘Time for Freedom’ campaign, we say ‘enough’ to this atrocity. The centenarian fascist order of the Turkish state is experiencing a major crisis thanks to the resistance of Leader Apo, the Freedom Movement and our people. They seek to cover up their desperateness against HPG by means of attacks on the people and the HDP. However, no matter what the Turkish state might do, it will not be able to thwart the defeat of its fascist order. This is the period when fascism will be defeated and the freedom of Leader Apo and peoples of Kurdistan will be achieved. The defeat of the fascist Turkish state system will pave the way for democracy in four parts of Kurdistan and all the peoples in the region.

On this basis, we commend the resistance of our people, wish a happy Newroz to the peoples of Kurdistan and wish great success to our people.”
