On the occasion of Easter, the European umbrella organization of the Kurdish diaspora KCDK-E said in a written statement: “Mesopotamia is the place where humanity and world cultures developed and grew and where different identities have coexisted throughout history. Before the occupation by the Turkish state, Afrin was one of the best examples of this culture. The peoples there were living in peace and had built a collective life. Easter became part of this system of equal, free coexistence of different identities and world cultures."

"Resistance is the only way to counter monistic thinking"

The statement reminded that “on the other hand, we are faced with a monistic thinking, which regards everything beyond itself as hostile and seeks to destroy it. The Turkish state with its ISIS mentality is attacking all historical, cultural and spiritual values ​​of the peoples of the Middle East and Mesopotamia and is plighting the region with massacres. In order to perpetuate its occupation, Turkey pursues a policy of extermination towards the cultures and religions of the region. It forces people to change their language, to convert and to reject their values. In the face of this murderous, monistic thinking, to fight in common resistance is the only way for all believers, especially for Christians.”

The statement continued: “We must promote the coexistence of the various religious identities by fighting together for an equal, free life.
