The booby trap was set off this afternoon as Eli Elyas Meto returned to his home in Girzerik village for the first time after the area was liberated from ISIS gangs. Meto was killed and 3 other villagers were wounded.  The house was demolished because of the impact of the explosion.

Girzerik is an Êzidî village which was deserted after ISIS invasion. The area was captured by Hasdi Shahbi, Shiite militia group in May 2017.

Its reported that ISIS gangs booby trapped most houses in the area. Last week two YBŞ fighters lost their lives as a result of a similar trap.
