HDP Party Council member detained in Mardin

Abdullah Idig, who is a member of the HDP party council, was taken into custody at the airport in Mardin, bringing the number of those detained in the city today to 5.

In Mardin, 5 people associated with the democratic opposition have been taken into custody on Sunday, including Abdullah Idig, a member of the HDP Party Council. Idig was detained by police at airport shortly after flying from Ankara to Mardin. He is currently being held at the anti-terror department of Mardin Police Headquarters. The background to his detention is still unclear.

Earlier today, four people have been taken into custody in Mardin. During the raids on apartments in the districts of Kızıltepe and Nusaybin, HDP co-chairwoman in Nusaybin, Hevidar Dinç, activist Özgür Ermiş, Abdullah Ayav of the Mesopotamian Cultural Association and Mehmet Sait Sırdaş of the HDP Youth Council were taken into custody.

The number of detainees is expected to increase as more persons are being sought by the police.
