HDP's Buldan: Let’s get together to defeat AKP-MHP fascism

The HDP chairwoman in Van motivated people by saying: “Let’s make 25 June a day without Erdoğan, without Bahçeli”

HDP held an election rally in Van on Saturday.

At the meeting several speakers took the floor, beginning with HDP Co-Chairwoman Pervin Buldan, HDP Parliamentary Group Chairwoman Meral Danış Beştaş, HDP MYK Member Zahide Besi, HDP Van Province Co-Chair Yadisen Karabulak and Ümit Dede, DBP Van Province Co-Chairs Ayla Tarhan and Ökkeş Kava, HDP Van MP Adem Geveri. The meeting was attended by many HDP, DBP,  Party members, TJA Activists, NGO representatives.

HDP Van deputy Adem Geveri, said that the party and its members will repeat once more what they had achieved on the previous elections, on 7 June 2015.

“24 June - he said - will be a day of joy as we will enjoy the fall of the fascist system established by Erdogan”. Geveri added that in order to achieve the fall of this fascist regime, everybody “should work non stop, day and night until 24 June”.

Speaking after Geveri, HDP Parliamentary Group chairwoman, Meral Danış Beştaş, said that they were expressing all their respect to the enthusiasm and will of the people, saying that historical days are waiting ahead.

Erdogan-Bahceli fascism can be defeated

Beştaş underlined that all the alliances were anti-Kurdish, and noted that the AKP-MHP Alliance is a dirty anti-Kurdish alliance. Erdogan and Bahceli coalition 'stones on the stone, head on the head' slogan, she said “is targeting Kurdish people”.

Beştaş said: “The co-chairs the people elected are in prison. Figen Yüksekdağ, who has been elected by the people of Van like Bekir Kaya are in prison today. Van deputy Tuğba Hezer has been stripped of her immunity. They say they will break the will of the Kurdish people but they could not do it and once again they were defeated. June 24 - said the HDP MP - will only ratify this defeat. They are so afraid of it…”

The HDP MP ended her speech by remembering that “Our desire is peace, democracy, liberty. When we ask for it, they answer with war. On 24 June, we will free Demirtaş, Baluken, Bekir Kaya from prison. We are Kurds, we stand firmly on our feet. The people of Van will show on 24 June how honorable they are”.

Taking the floor to close the meeting, HDP co-chairwoman Pervin Buldan said: "The AKP government's attacks against all different sectors of society, ethnic groups, nations and beliefs will end on 24 June. The AKP government in Turkey - she added - is no longer a promise for the future of the society. The people of Turkey will make a decision on 24 June”.

Buldan underlined that “after 16 years of AKP, finally the time has come to say ‘enough’. The AKP government has brought nothing to this country. While speaking of freedom and brotherhood, the AKP government today became the most authoritarian government of the Republican history”.

Buldan said: “The Turkish government attacked Kurds everywhere, here, in Afrin, in Syria, in  Kirkuk, in south Kurdistan. They want to erase all achievements made by Kurds. Bekir Kaya, the HDP mayor of this city, is the mayor of everyone who lives in this city. He is being held hostage in prison, denied from his duty as democratically elected representative”.

Kurdish people are here to show their will

Buldan remembered that only on Friday night the “Prime Minister said they ’have no problem with the Kurdish people’. Is that so? Why did you go to occupy Afrin then? Why did you attack the achievements of the Kurdish people? You have removed even the Kurdish signs. If you do not have a problem with the Kurdish people, why do you put Demirtaş and Yüksekdağ in prison? It may be that you have no problem with the Kurdish people, but the Kurdish people have a problem with you.

Today, we are addressing the AKP-MHP fascist alliance: we have a problem with you. You are talking about the democracy, but you are killing Kurdish kids”.

Buldan, who says that the people of Van will show once more their will in the elections said: "Kurds will work for the unity of all people of Turkey. We, together, will make the most out of the opportunity provided by this election. Let's touch the heart of the neighborhood, the streets, our people. Let's take possession of our seats, given to us by the people on the evening of 24 June 24”.

Let's make 25 June a day without Erdogan

In her emotional speech, Buldan ended by saying: “Let’s make 25 June a day without Erdoğan, without Bahçeli. Let’s make that the day! Turkey is bigger than just one man. There is a new chance and we should make the best out of this chance. We have to bring peace, democracy, freedom, human rights to this country. We have to do it all together: Turks, Kurds, Laz, Circassans, alevis, Sunnis, youth and women. As long as we trust each other, we can make it”.
