German MPs express solidarity with the HDP

Stating that the banning of the HDP, will be the end of the remaining democracy of the Erdogan regime, German parliamentarians said: "We will always stand by the HDP".

Organisations and parliamentarians in various European countries continue to send their messages of solidarity to the HDP which faces a ban after the lawsuit filed to the Supreme Court demanding its closure, as the AKP-MHP government wants.

Parliamentarians from Die Linke joined a demonstration organized to support the HDP in Berlin, and told ANF about their call to the German government and about their support for the HDP.

Christine Buchholz, a Die Linke deputy in the Federal Assembly said that repression in Turkey should end and called on the Merkel government to act.

Bucholz also demanded the end of arms sales to Turkey and the end of the so called "security cooperation" agreement between the two countries.

Die Linke federal parliamentary Pascal Meiser said: "The government of the AKP-MHP wants to close the HDP. If this happens it will mean the end of the last remnant traces of democracy in Turkey."

Likewise, federal parliamentarian Pascal Meiser made appeals to the Merkel’s government. "It is time [for the German government] to say stop to Erdogan."

Meiser also called on the Bundestag to express solidarity with the HDP. Meiser stated that all parliamentarians should oppose the criminalization of HDP and Kurdish politicians.

Berlin State Assembly Member Hakan Taş gave information about the demonstrations they are organising in solidarity with the HDP.

Taş said: “We are holding demonstrations to inform the German people about the closure case against the HDP. Attempts to ban a party voted by 6 million people are in no way acceptable. We will continue our actions events to show our solidarity.”
