French MP to Turkish Ambassador: We stand with Kurdish insurgents

A commission meeting held in the French parliament and attended by Turkish Ambassador witnessed harsh criticism towards the Turkish state. A deputy from the Communist Party mentioned “barbarity” and “ethnic cleansing”.

On April 3rd, a commission meeting was held in the French parliament, also attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Paris, and former MIT (Turkish intelligence) official İsmail Hakkı Musa.

Speaking at the meeting, Communist Party MP Jean-Paul Lecoq mentioned the terrific crimes committed by Turkey in Syria and the violations of the Turkish government against the HDP, which he had shared on Facebook.

“YOU TRAMPLE ON DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS”

Lecoq started his words, saying “I want to highlight French public opinion’s reaction against dictator Erdoğan”. Remarking that Erdoğan was in in sharp contrast to the values of France, he said; “You trample on human rights and democracy.”

Recalling the ongoing imprisonment of HDP co-chairs, deputies and co-mayors, Lecoq said elected representatives were put in prisons made into horrific torture centers. He said Turkey humiliates women and men like in Guantanamo, and pointed out the prison uniform imposition recently introduced.

“YOU SETTLE SAVAGES IN SYRIA”

Stressing that thousands of intellectuals and opposition figures are behind bars while many others are subject to chase extending to France, Lecoq recalled the triple murder of three Kurdish women, Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, in Paris in 2013 as an example in this context.

Mentioning the invasion in Syria, Lecoq said; “You claim to be protecting your borders which you are, however, invading. Your military units and ISIS mercenaries committed organized looting, massacre and war crimes, and you settle these savages in Syria again. From your point of view, it is time for an ethnic cleansing.”

FRENCH ALLIANCE WITH TURKEY IS SHAMEFUL

Recalling the Armenian genocide of a century ago, Lecoq said the same practices are being executed in Afrin today with the same excuses.

Lecoq continued; “You are bombing hospitals, civilians and children under the pretext of fight against terror. Under these circumstances, France considering you an ally is shameful. Our people are shocked by Turkey’s arrogance, violence and terror. We will not let you destabilize Rojava. Kurds have many friends in France. We will be standing with them for peace.”

“WE FEEL VERY CLOSE TO KURDISH INSURGENTS”

Lecoq underlined that neither YPG nor YPJ is terrorist in their viewpoint, adding; “I come from a party that was labelled terrorist in the dark times of our history. Through resistance, we liberated our country with others. We feel very close to Kurdish insurgents.”
