"Freedom for Öcalan, Status for Kurdistan!"

In Zurich, Hamburg and Aurich, activists have demanded freedom for Abdullah Öcalan. The isolation of the Kurdish leader, who has been imprisoned on Imrali for 22 years, must be lifted and immediate contact made possible, they demanded.

The Kurdish youth and women's movements continue to campaign for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan with high-profile actions and demand immediate contact with the PKK founder, who has been isolated on the Turkish prison island of Imrali for 22 years.

Zurich

At the main train station in Zurich, activists from the Kurdish Revolutionary Youth Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger, TCŞ) held a spontaneous protest on Friday demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and the recognition of a status for Kurdistan. The youth chanted "Bijî Serok Apo" (Long live Öcalan), "All occupiers out of Kurdistan" and "Freedom for all political prisoners".

Hamburg

In Hamburg, the youth movement organised a rally in Sternschanze. At the rally, the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan was described as synonymous with the freedom of the Kurdish people. The activists demanded the lifting of the isolation of the Kurdish leader and vowed to continue their actions until his release. Today, a bicycle demonstration with the same demand is to start at 2 p.m. in Wilhelmsburg, the destination is Sternschanze.

Aurich

A rally by the Martyr Zelal Women's Council took place in Aurich, Lower Saxony. The participants protested against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and demanded immediate contact with him.
