Kurdish people kicked off Newroz celebrations in Switzerland. Hundreds of Kurdish people celebrated Newroz with a torch march in the city of Solothurn.

Kurds from the four parts joined the march chanting slogans and demanding freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

After walking through the city center for about an hour, the people returned to the 1 May square. After a minute's silence in memory of the Kurdistan freedom struggle and the world revolutionary martyrs, the families of martyrs and guerrillas lit the Newroz fire.

In his speech, Kurdish politician Demir Çelik drew attention to the resistance under the "Time to ensure freedom" initiative.

Çelik said: "We will respond with an all-out resistance against the isolation torture against our leader, the attacks on the guerrilla, the invasion attacks on Kurdistan and the attacks against the HDP today."

Çelik added: “We will respond to the all-out attacks of fascism against the Kurdish people with the spirit of resistance of Newroz. The resistance of the Kurdish people against fascism will win."
