Demo in Hamburg: "Stop arms exports!"

TATORT Kurdistan organized a demonstration against arms exports took place in Hamburg. The Turkish invasion of Southern Kurdistan was also discussed.

The TATORT Kurdistan campaign organized an anti-militarist demonstration in Hamburg-Altona. Signatures were collected for the "People's Initiative against the Transport and Transshipment of Armaments via the Hamburg Port" were collected. The initiative wants to fight for a civilian port with a popular initiative.

Through the port of Hamburg, 1000 containers of ammunition, Krauss-Maffei Wegman tank hulls and turrets, and more murder instruments are shipped annually, especially to warring dictatorships. The dictatorial Erdogan regime uses German weapons, German ammunition and German-Turkish killer drones both domestically, as in the war crime committed in Cizre in 2016, as well as in conquests that violate international law, such as in Rojava and southern Kurdistan.

Various contributions at the rally addressed the German-Turkish arms brotherhood, details of arms transshipment via the port and the record high in global military spending. Despite the pandemic, the military-industrial complex is celebrating new records.

The current invasion of South Kurdistan by the Turkish army was also addressed by the activists who called upon international institutions and the international community to force the Turkish state to comply with international law. Appeals were also made to the international community and civil society to join the current protests and demand the unconditional and immediate withdrawal of all Turkish forces from South Kurdistan and from North-East Syria.
