DBP condemned the decision to revoke the parliamentary status to HDP deputies Güven and Farisoğulları and CHP deputy Berberoğlu.
The Democratic Regions Party issued a statement to condemn the decision to revoke the parliamentary status to Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari MP Leyla Güven, HDP Amed MP, Musa Farisoğulları and CHP (Republican People’s Party) Istanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu.
The DBP reminded how in 1994, the parliament stripped Democracy Party (DEP) deputies Hatip Dicle, Leyla Zana, Orhan Doğan, Sırrı Sakık and Independent deputy Mahmut Alıak of immunity and said that the same coup dynamics are repeated 26 years on.
The statement continued: “We state that we consider the stripping of immunity of the three deputies as yet another violation of the people’s will. Elections and their results cannot be changed by a handful of tyrants. We are launching a total resistance against the total war declared on the Kurdish people.”
