Barcelona marched in solidarity with Rojava and organised an action in front of the Barcelona FC shop, which is sponsored by BEKO.

The demo and action were part of the World Resistance Day for Rojava.

Some five hundred people demonstrated in Barcelona on November 2nd as part of the World Resistance Day for Rojava call to action. With the slogan "if the world does not stop the war, we will stop the world", the activists marched through center of the city chanting slogans in solidarity, condemning the Turkish invasion and European states' complicity in the sale of weapons to Turkey.

The march passed in front of the Sagrada Familia, one of the city's tourist icons. Some Kurdish tourists who happened to be there even joined the protest.

Since BEKO, one of the main sponsors of FC Barcelona (Barça), is part of the Turkish business group KOÇ – one of the main arms manufacturers for the Turkish state – protesters tried to enter the world famous soccer club's official merchandise shop, but the police blocked their entrance.

The protesters persisted and carried out the act on the storefront, which, as a result, had to remain closed for a few hours. There, they read the manifesto that condemns the complicity of Barcelona with the Erdogan regime.

Also, a young Kurdish woman spoke about her experience as a refugee, and protesters danced to Kurdish songs of resistance.

After the action at the Barcelona FC shop, the demonstration moved to Plaza Universitat, occupied since October 29 by young people reclaiming independence for Catalonia and the release of political prisoners.

Activists read the manifesto again and an open debate took place about the connections between the struggles of the Kurdish people and the Catalan people.
