The ongoing crackdown under the name of curfew has left 4 civilian people dead and dozens of others wounded so far.
In the neighborhoods of Mescit, Tekel and Konak that are still under siege and attack, electricity, water, internet and phone services remain cut off for a week now. The ill people and those injured by the attacks cannot be taken to hospital for treatment.
Silvan Deputy Co-mayor Zuhal Tekiner told that state forces have started an intense random attack on Mescit and Tekel neighborhoods earlier this morning. "There is also an intense activity of helicopters over both neighborhoods from which we can receive no news. We do not know what is happening in these areas but we see a rising smoke caused by the bombs fired there. We guess some houses have been demolished”, she added.
Amed Deputy Sibel Yiğitalp, who is also in the district for two days, remarked that the people have been subject to an offensive for a week and cannot meet their most basic needs even.
Yiğitalp said military tanks in addition to soldiers have been deployed on Diyarbakır Street, likening the situation to a military coup. She stated that; "The state violence has been made a usual case here. A public opinion must be created regarding the situation in Silvan where state forces have been trying to enter neighborhoods for a week. If they happen to enter these areas, they might commit a mass killing. See the state violence in Silvan and hear the voice of the people to not allow such an incident."
According to Yiğitalp, the AKP government, which maintains its war agenda, wants to punish the Silvan people who manifested their will in November 1 election. She said the government, however, fails to notice the fact that the Kurdish people have been resisting for four generations.
