American YPG member Taylor laid to rest in his country

YPG’s internationalist fighter David Taylor (Zafer Qereçox) from the U.S. who fell fighting in Raqqa on July 16 has been laid to rest in his country.

YPG’s internationalist fighter David Taylor was born in February 1991 in Florida, USA to working class parents. He majored in Philosophy and spent 4 years in the US army afterwards. He joined the YPG in May 2017 and chose the name Zafer Qereçox. He was martyred fighting against enemies of humanity ISIS gangs in Raqqa on July 16.

Following a massive ceremony in Dêrik city of Rojava, bodies of Taylor and three other internationalist fighters, who fell martyrs during the operation to liberate Raqqa, were sent to Southern Kurdistan to be transported back to their countries.

Taylor has been laid to rest today following an official ceremony in Buckannon city west of Virginia state, which was attended by the co-mayor of Buckannon, representatives of American institutions, American veterans and Kurdish citizens.

Speakers honoured Taylor’s memory and stressed that they were proud of him as a soldier protecting the values of freedom.

YPG Spokesperson Nuri Mahmoud also conveyed his message to the ceremony via phone.
