In Silopi district of Şırnak, Eyşe Şan Culture and Art Centre, which operates under the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Municipality, started a Kurdish language course. The opening of the Kurdish language course was attended by the co-mayors of Silopi Municipality, DEM Party Şırnak MPs, KESK (Confederation of Public Employees' Unions) and İHD (Human Rights Association) executives and many people. Students, instructors and participants attended the opening in local clothes.

Speaking at the opening of the course, Kurdish teacher Müslüm Ergin emphasised the importance of language and said, "The importance of language is known both in Kurdistan and in world history. We needed this kind of work to serve the language and keep it alive. With the start of our courses, our people showed great interest and many people applied to us to receive education in Kurdish. This shows that our people have an awareness of their culture and language. We used to conduct our work within our organisation Kurdî-DER, and today we continue to do so here at Eyşe Şan Culture and Art Centre. We are here to show the importance of language and not to forget it. We call on everyone to apply to Eyşe Şan Culture and Art Centre to learn their language. We will provide language training every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays. We invite those who have not applied to us to apply for our courses. We are ready to educate our people in their mother tongue."

Kurdish teacher Aydın Deniz also emphasised the importance of Kurdish language courses. Noting that Kurdî-Der was closed down 8 years ago, Deniz said, "Today, after 8 years, we are able to open Kurdish language courses within our municipalities. This is great happiness and pride for us. We wish all our days to be spent in Kurdish. The Kurdish language is so rich that it ranks 10th in the world today. Unfortunately, it has not been allowed to become an official language until today. But we promise to the pioneers and heroes who taught the language under the most difficult conditions; we will not forget our language and we will continue to fight for it."

After the speeches, a Kurdish language course was given. After the course, the opening was celebrated with Kurdish traditional dance.
