“Öcalan’s importance has to be recognized,” says Scottish trade unionist Mike Arnott

Mike Arnott, the secretary of the Dundee Trade Union Council and a member of the Scottish TUC General Council said that "Öcalan’s importance has to be recognized".

Mike Arnott, the Secretary of the Dundee Trade Union Council and a member of the Scottish TUC General Council, was interviewed by Erem Kansoy.

Topics discussed include the centrality of Abdullah Öcalan for a political resolution of the Kurdish question and for peace in the region.


Arnott also spoke about the significance of democratic confederalism as a program for social and political organization, the persecution of the Kurds and the imprisonment of Ocalan as an instance of criminalising democratic opposition under the War on Terror, the necessity for Europe and other western governments to pressure Turkey to uphold democratic rights and to release Öcalan, and the importance of the Freedom for Öcalan UK Trade Union campaign.
