7 years and 9 months in prison for commemoration of 2015 Ankara massacre victims

The 19 people who attended a commemoration for victims of the Ankara massacre have been sentenced to 7 years and 9 months in total for "violating the law on meetings and demonstrations".

The final hearing of the trial of those who attended an event organized by the Urfa Labor and Democracy Platform to commemorate those massacred in an ISIS bombing attack in Ankara on October 10, 2015 was held at the Urfa 8th Criminal Court of First Instance.

A crowd had gathered in Topçular Square and organized a march on October 11, 2015. Two months after the march, on 19 December 2015, 25 people, including the co-chairs of the Labor and Democracy Platform component institutions, were detained in house raids for allegedly "making propaganda for an organization" and "insulting the President".

The court sentenced 19 people each to 5 months in jail for "violating law on meetings and demonstrations".  The court decided to delay the announcement of the verdict.

The names of the people who were sentenced to prison are as follows: Leyla Coşkun, Mehmet Duvar, Rıdvan Yavuz, Ruken Kılınç, Ali Azger, Atila Yazar, Besra Yıldırım, Celal Babacan, Dilek Çakırtaş, İbrahim Halil Sağlam, Mehmet Duvar, Mehmet Melik, Nalan Durdu, Reşat Doğan, Servet Yazar, Sevinç İzol Özipek, Vedat Gökler, Leyla Sezen and Yusuf Geçgel.
