A number of people from Tabqa, Raqqa, Cizire and Euphrates Cantons left for the Tishrin Dam in convoys today in support of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who are confronting intensified attacks by the Turkish army and allied Syrian National Army (SNA) mercenaries.
The convoy of civilians was bombed by a Turkish drone en route to the dam, resulting in deaths and injuries.
It was announced that 5 people were martyred and 15 others were wounded, some of them seriously, as a result of the aerial attack.
While the identities of slain civilians will be announced later, the names of those wounded are as follows: Diyar Mihemed Hecî, Mihemed Mistefa Heqil, Hisên Salim Silêman, Mistefa Mehmûd Yûsif, Arif Elî Ehmed, Mihemed Enter Beko, Delîl Ebdila Mihemed, Aldar Ebdilezîz Ibrahîm, Şeyda, Necîb Berkel, Mesûd Fetah Eqil, Mihemed Osman Daban, Mehmûd Hesen Şahîn, Feyha Elî, Îbrahîm Xelîl Salih.
On the other hand, following the arrival of the residents at the Tishrin Dam, where attacks by the occupying Turkish state continue, a statement was made on behalf of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and all components in the region.
The statement called on the International Coalition to come up with a solution to the problems in North and East Syria and to stop the attacks by Turkey and allied mercenary groups against the region.
The statement pointed out that Turkey's attacks on the region, which have been going on for about a month and are concentrated mainly on the Tishrin Dam, endangered the lives of thousands of people. The demonstrators stressed that they would stand against the crimes and attacks by the invaders alongside their children.
After the press statement, the residents started a vigil at the Tishrin Dam where hundreds are keeping watch with great motivation and courage.
In a statement about the growing threat to the dam, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported earlier today that Turkish warplanes have conducted multiple airstrikes on the Tishrin Dam and its surrounding areas amid intense clashes between the Manbij Military Council forces and Turkish-backed mercenary groups.
Remarking that the risk of a catastrophic collapse of the Tishrin Dam is increasing, the SDF said: “The Turkish state will bear full responsibility for any disaster that may occur at the Dam or other areas in Syria due to the ongoing Turkish air and artillery strikes. These attacks reached a peak intensity earlier this morning and are continuing.”
