Fighters of the YPG/YPJ have liberated two villages in south Hesekê. A number of ISIS members were killed in the fighting here.

YPG Press Office said in today's statement about the ongoing battle in Rojava, West Kurdistan, that constant military operations conducted by joined forces of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) continue to confront the ISIS gangs attempting occupation efforts near the city of Hesekê.

The statement said that YPG/YPJ troops that continued making advances in south Hesekê yesterday afternoon firstly liberated two villages to the south of the Vîlatê Sor (Red Houses) area. A number of ISIS members were killed in clashes in both villages where mop-up operations were completed before heading towards the Vîlatê Sor area which was also cleansed of ISIS gangs in the wake of heavy clashes.

Combined forces carried out an assault operation of two axis around the Penitentiary (Children Prison) and the village of Tal’a, as a result of which an ISIS-occupied construction site was liberated.

According to the statement, corpses of 30 ISIS members and a large quantitiy of ammunition have been seized by YPG/YPJ during the operations of the past two days in south and east of Hesekê.

OPERATION AGAINST GANGS IN SİLÛK

The statement reported that YPG/YPJ troops launched an expansive operation against an ISIS group that infiltrated into the Silûk town and attempted for an attack.

Fighters of the YPG/YPJ foiled a suicide attack that gangs attempted with the explosives they had previously placed in the area. The group of 3 ISIS members were completely destroyed, while their corpses and munitions were also seized.

FRESH OPERATION IN SOUTH KOBANÊ

Conducting a fresh operation against ISIS gangs in south Kobanê, YPG/YPJ troops targeted the village of Qilhaydê, after which a large number of ISIS gangs were killed. Corpses of 12 among them and a large quantity of ammunition were seized.

In another operation in the east of Ayn Îsa town and south of Şergirat village, YPG/YPJ troops liberated two more villages under ISIS occupation, while casualties on ISIS side could not be immediately verified.
