YPG units got involved in the ongoing clashes between regime forces and asayish units in Hesekê city of Rojava, West Kurdistan.

Clashes started yesterday (August 16) around 12:50 when Baath regime forces attacked the Asayish control center in Hesekê bazaar but ended when community leaders intervened at 21:00 last night.

Armed groups affiliated to the Syrian regime resumed their attacks on Hesekê yesterday evening despite a ceasefire. During the attacks against which asayish (public security) forces retaliated, paramilitary forces of the regime started to target civilians, hitting the neighborhoods where civilians live with mortars, which was followed by an airstrike earlier today.

The airstrike of the regime targeted the neighborhoods of Nasra, Kelasê, Miftî, Til Hecer, Mesakin, Sînaa and the Sînalko crossing, leaving many civilians wounded and inflicting heavy damage on the shelled areas. Regime jets also targeted the Asayish Center and YPG Foreign Relations Center.

YPG fighters intervened the ongoing fighting after the airstrikes targeting civilians in Tal Hecer, Nasra and Kelasê neighborhoods.

Clashes intensify between YPG fighters, Asayish members, HPC members and regime forces in the neighborhoods of East Neshwa and Mesakin and the downtown.
