Youth activist allegedly handed over by KDP to Turkey

The Kurdish youth movement raises serious accusations against security forces in Duhok: a 19-year-old activist with Turkish citizenship, who has been in custody for two months, is said to have been handed over to Turkey.

An activist of the youth movement in Southern Kurdistan has apparently been handed over to Turkey by security forces of the ruling party KDP in Duhok. This was reported by the media portal of the Kurdish youth movement Nûçe Ciwan. The activist is said to be Musa Xazî Güzel.

19-year-old Güzel, who is said to have Turkish citizenship, was arrested on 15 June - the day when Turkey's invasion of Southern Kurdistan in violation of international law began - at his place of residence in Sheladize. According to the report, he was in custody in Duhok until the beginning of the week, and last Tuesday he was reportedly transferred to the Turkish secret service. Meanwhile Güzel is said to be in custody in the province of Şırnak in Northern Kurdistan. The activist's parents confirmed to Nûçe Ciwan that they had been informed by the KDP about the extradition.

Musa Xazî Güzel was five years old when the family gave up their life in Yüksekova (Gever) district of Hakkari province as a result of the state repression in Turkey and moved to Southern Kurdistan. What the activist is accused of and on what basis he was handed over to Turkey is unclear.

KDP institutions infiltrated by MIT

In Southern Kurdistan, all institutions of the ruling party KDP have been infiltrated by the Turkish secret service. The KDP is no longer able to act independently from the Turkish state, as Ankara has installed its own people in the most sensitive decision-making bodies and in all authorities and institutions. Opposition members now refer to the party founded by Mustafa Barzani in 1946 as the "armed protection force of the Turkish state".
