Young man abducted by soldiers in Lice found heavily wounded

Two cousins, Osman and Mesut Yalavuz, were shot and heavily wounded by the police, one while working in his fields and the other while detained and taken to operation grounds. They are in critical condition.

Lice has been under a blockade by the AKP for months, with ten thousand soldiers, policemen and village guards. Torture and executions have run rampant. In just one week, 8 civilians have lost their lives in armored vehicle “accidents” in the district, and all villages and roads in the district are being held by AKP’s mercenaries.

On June 19, in the Türeli (Beşişte) village, Osman Yalavuz (30), father of 4, was on his way to water his gardens when he was shot and heavily wounded by soldiers. His cousin, Mesut Yalavuz, was handcuffed and taken to the grounds where the operation continued. Mesut Yalavuz was found yesterday evening, heavily wounded.

Mesut Yalavuz claims he managed to get away from the soldiers. His family believes he was targeted for a “disappearance”. He was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen after the incident was made public in the media, and has since been admitted to the hospital.

Mesut Yalavuz remains in critical condition due to blood loss from the gunshot wound to his abdomen. He had an operation in the Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Research Hospital, and has been in the ICU since.

Osman Yalavuz on the other hand has been in the Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital in the ICU for the last 3 days. He is also in critical condition. His brother Baki Yalavuz spoke on the matter and said the threat to his life continues, he has serious fractures in his bones and he is being kept in the ICU due to some serious hemorrhaging.

Baki Yalavuz said the family couldn’t visit his brother and cousin because the police keeps their rooms in the hospital under guard.
