YJA Star guerrillas Sozdar Amara and Zîlan Kobanê spoke to the ANF on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Beritan (Gülnaz Karataş), one of the leading commanders of the PKK.

YJA Star guerrilla Sozdar Amara paid all the martyrs who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom in the person of Martyr Beritan, and said: "Martyr Beritan waged an unprecedented struggle against traitors and the mentality of the government. She sacrificed her life for the cause of freedom. Thousands of guerrillas who followed the resistance line she created fought for a free Kurdistan, became martyrs and are still fighting against the enemy with the spirit of Beritan. The occupying Turkish state wants to break our will with its attacks. Our stance, struggle and resistance frustrate all these attacks. Female guerrillas sacrifice themselves for the freedom and honorable life of their people. All of these are the results of the struggle and labor given by martyr Beritan. There is currently great resistance in the Medya Defense Areas. The guerrillas are fighting against the enemy with great enthusiasm and morale. We will continue to fight for the physical freedom of Leader Apo."

YJA Star guerrilla Amara added: "In this process, in addition to the role and mission given to women, the task that falls on us right now is also very important. We are aware of this. That is why we are making a great effort to achieve our goal in our lives and in our war. The resistance carried out against all kinds of technical and chemical weapons in the war tunnels is unparalleled resistance. The fact that the Turkish state attacks so brutally actually shows that they have failed against the guerrillas."

We are walking in the footsteps of Bêrîtan

YJA Star guerrilla Zîlan Kobanê said that Martyr Bêrîtan fought against treacherous collaborators, and said the following: "The line of resistance created by Martyr Bêrîtan is a rebellion against traitors. We, the YJA Star guerrillas, fight against the enemy with this power. As women, we are proud to take Heval Bêrîtan as an example. Many friends who followed Heval Bêrîtan’s footsteps took self-sacrificing actions. It is important for us to take the line of Martyr Beritan as a basis and to protect it. Today, women are struggling in every field. This is very important. Our next goal and aim is to ensure the physical freedom of President Abdullah Öcalan."
