Yazidi youth in Shengal demand information on Öcalan

The Yazidi youth associations YCÊ and YJCÊ in Shengal demand up-to-date information on the state of health of Abdullah Öcalan.

Activists from the Yazidi youth associations YCÊ and YJCÊ gathered at the vigil in front of the Asayîşa Êzîdxanê (local security force) building in Shengal in response to recent rumors on social media that Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan has died in prison. "We as Yazidi youth and as Yazidi people will continue our actions until the end for Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] and will be in the streets until we get new information about his health condition. Because in the time of genocide, on August 3, 2014, it was only Rêber Apo and his freedom fighters who came to the rescue of the Yazidi people and protected our people from a complete genocide," said Sebah Mîrzê, activist of YCÊ.

An activist from the Yazidi Young Women's Association (YJCÊ), Cihan Hazim, also took the floor and stated that they were very concerned about the uncertainty surrounding Abdullah Öcalan's health. Cihan said, "As the Yazidi community, we will follow the ideas and philosophy of Rêber Apo until the end. We call on the Kurdish people to take to the streets for Rêber Apo until there is new news about his health."

The action of the youth in front of the resistance tent in Shengal was concluded with slogans.
