Yagiz unable to stand up, has weakened heart

The hunger strike in Hewler against the isolation is on day 99. Nasir Yagiz, already hospitalized and still refusing treatment, continues in a critical state. Yagiz is unable to stand up and his heartbeat has weakened significantly.

The hunger strike in Hewler against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan continues on day 99.

Following a statement today, the 50th group took over the hunger strike.

HDP South Kurdistan Representative Muzeyen Gunes said the hunger strikes are at a critical stage and that the demands should be met as soon as possible. Gunes said support for the protest should also increase.

YAGIZ’S HEALTH DETERIORATES FURTHER 

Nasir Yagiz has been on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike for 99 days. His health has deteriorated further. Yagiz was hospitalized after brieflty losing consciousness yesterday, but refused treatment. He is having issues with arrhythmia.

Gunes said: “Nasir Yagiz can no longer stand up on his own, his sight is very poor and his heart beats significantly weakly. He is having trouble taking in and keeping down fluids and other liquids. He also has trouble speaking.”
