Yagiz on hunger strike day 71: Resistance will continue

Nasir Yagiz has been on a hunger strike for the last 71 days, and his health is deteriorating. Yagiz continues his resistance with determination.

The indefinite non-alternating hunger strike Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) member Nasir Yagiz went on to protest the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Ocalan continues on day 71.

Meanwhile, the alternating hunger strike in Hewler continues with the 34th group taking over. A group of 7 people from Northern Kurdistan who live in Southern Kurdistan have taken over.

“HE IS SHORT OF BREATH AND HIS STOMACH REJECTS FLUIDS”

HDP Hewler Representative Muzeyen Gunes stated that Yagiz gets worse every day.

Gunes said Yagiz is fatigued and can't take enough fluids, which is furthering his health issues. Gunes added that Yagiz is also short of breath and has started to forget things.

Gunes gave the following information:

“He is having trouble standing up due to the weakness of his body. His stomach and headaches are trying. There is bloating in his face due to severe headaches. His stomach can't handle anything anymore. He has nausea when he drinks fluids and throws up 3 to 4 times a day. His stomach can’t handle fluids anymore, so we have to force them. These are severe issues, showing us how critical his health is. He is usually worse when he wakes up in the morning. He can only take a few steps several hours after he wakes up.”

HDP Hewler Representative Muzeyen Gunes said despite the issues, Yagiz has high morale and derives strength from visits.
