Urgent call for aid for Afrin to the UN

The March 16 Campaign has submitted a petition to the United Nations (UN) for Afrin, calling for urgent aid for the people of Afrin and support for a return to their lands.

The March 16 Campaign, which is based in Southern Kurdistan and includes journalists, activists, religious leaders and academics, has submitted a petition to the UN for Afrin. The petition was submitted to the UN offices in Suleymaniye.

Sema Mihemed announced the petition with a press conference in the name of the March 16 Campaign representatives and called for urgent aid for Afrin.

The petition the March 16 Campaign submitted to the UN includes the following calls:

“We are calling on the UN, the international community and human rights organizations to go to Afrin as soon as possible for the hundreds of thousands of people whose homes have been burned, demolished and pillaged due to the Turkish state invasion. The people have been forced to leave their invaded lands, and hundreds of them have been killed by invaders.

The people of Afrin now live under very dire conditions and are waiting for humanitarian aid.

The only organization that is capable of delivering humanitarian aid to Afrin is the UN, which is why we are calling for humanitarian aid support from the UN for Afrin.”

UN Sulaymaniyah Representative Ebas Elî received the petition and stated that they will be delivering the petition to the relevant authorities as soon as possible.

The petition submitted to the UN calls for supplies for the children from Afrin, milk, tents, mattresses and various vital supplies.
