Kurdish politicians, academics, lawyers and intellectuals met in Diyarbakýr to discuss "Unity with Collective Mind". The meeting has been organized within the scope of the ongoing works towards a national unity.
Diyarbakýr mayor Osman Baydemir, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and Van MP Aysel Tuðluk and Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chairs Gültan Kýþanak and Selahattin Demirtaþ as well as representatives from about 50 non-governmental organizations are attending the meeting.
Before the meeting which is closed to the press, Diyarbakýr Mayor Baydemir underlined the importance of the Kurds’ unity for world peace. “Because of the lack of a Kurdish alliance, bombs hail on us and Kurdish children are imprisoned and abused,” said Demirtaþ.
Among the issues to be discussed at the meeting ‘The Risks and Advantages for Kurds in the Middle East’, ‘Basic Principles of Collective Mind, Collective Conscience and Joint Struggle’ and ‘The New Constitution, the Kurds and the National Conference’.
A final declaration of the meeting will be presented to the public on Saturday, at the end of the meeting.
