Two villages in Hakkari under Corona quarantine

Two villages in the province of Hakkari are under quarantine due to positive corona infections.

A still unknown number of confirmed corona infections in two villages in the province of Hakkari in Northern Kurdistan prompted the governor's office to quarantine the villages on Sunday. Affected are the several hundred inhabitants of the villages of Dêzê (Kırıkdağ) and Baz (Çanaklı), who are not allowed to leave their houses for two weeks. All access and exit roads to the villages have been closed.

Meanwhile, eleven villages in the district of Gever (Yüksekova) are cut off from the outside world. On Saturday there had been heavy rainfall, which caused boulders weighing several tons to loosen and fall onto roads and paths. Although the securing work has begun, floods and landslides are making it difficult to transport working machinery to the affected area.
