Turkish army launches an operation in Silopi

Turkish military continues its operations against the areas of HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrillas.

Turkish troops have started an operation in Bespin area in Silopi district of Şırnak Tuesday on the excuse of a warning action carried out by HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrillas in Silopi.

HPG Press Office recalled in a written statement the previous warnings of guerrillas in order for the ending of activities destroying the nature of Kurdistan, including construction of thermal power plants and dams.

HPG noted that guerrillas carried out a warning action in which they targeted the heavy construction equipment delivered from Bespin thermal power plant to Pîrê Ezmana area today afternoon. One heavy construction equipment was left out of use as a result of the warning action, after which Turkish troops shelled the area with howitzer and mortars.

HPG added that the Turkish army launched another operation in Herbol village of Silopi, which is still going on.

According to the HPG statement, Turkish troops started another military operation in the area of Kömür town of Adıyaman province on July 20. The air-supported operation is still continuing, HPG said, adding that details on the incident will be shared once available.
