Turkish armored vehicle kills woman in Lice

Pakize Hazar lost her life after being hit by an armored vehicle of Turkish forces.

In Amed’s Lice district center, an old woman named Pakize Hazar lost her life when she was hit by an armored vehicle as she was trying to cross the street. The armored vehicle left the area after the incident while the old woman’s body was taken to Lice Halis Toprak Foundation Public Hospital for the autopsy.

NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT

It is not the first time that Turkish police and soldiers have killed Kurdish citizens with armored vehicles. On September 6, 2016 a Cobra type armored vehicle had hit 71 year old Naciye Özdemir trying to cross the road in Seyit Rıza Square in Dersim city center, killing the old woman.

Again on February 9, 2017 in Mardin’s Dargeçit district, 7 year old Berfin Dilek was hit and killed by an armored police vehicle on her way home from school.

On April 27, 2017 on Gevran Avenue in Amed city center, 55 year old Hatun Elhuman was hit and killed by a military armored vehicle.

On April 28, 2017 in Van, 2 people were hit by an armored police vehicle and Sami Uçan lost his life in the hospital. Also in Van, 7 people were wounded by armored vehicles in the following week.

Most recently on May 4, 2017 two brothers, Furkan (6) and Muhammed (7) Yıldırım were killed when an armored police vehicle hit their home in Silopi, Şırnak.
