Turkey attacks Zap region in South Kurdistan

Areas in the Zap region in South Kurdistan are being attacked by the Turkish army with fighter jets and howitzers. According to HPG, Turkey has landed troops in the guerrilla area.

Since 14 April, the Turkish army has been attacking the regions of Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn with fighter jets and howitzers.

Movements of Turkish combat and transport helicopters have been taking place since last night. The Zap region is under attack from air and artillery.

The press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) said: "The Turkish state has launched occupation attacks on the areas of Şikefta Birîndara, Kurojahro and Çiyayê Reş in the region of Zap. The areas are being bombed massively, attempts are being made to land soldiers from helicopters. The attack on the Zap region is not coming from the north, but from the south, the flights are from the Bamernê-Amêdî line via Şîladizê.”

The same route had been used to attack the Gare region on 10 February 2021. In the attack, the Turkish state killed its own soldiers and agents who were held captive by the guerrillas.
